	Race for Kids Kelowna Saturday, May 26th, 2012 - TBA Mark you calendars for May 26, 2012 The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs are excited to join 25 other Clubs across the country in launching this new National fundraising event, *RACE FOR KIDS. In Spring 2012, Boys and Girls Clubs will give all Canadians an opportunity to have the adventure of a life, and help Clubs give all kids a life of adventure... It’s not a run. It’s not a walk. It’s something different. RACE FOR KIDS* is something that embraces the very essence of being a kid, and is engrained in every youth. It’s a scavenger hunt. An adventure race. A kid-themed event that embraces the childhood roots inside all of us. Teams of 5 will race through the streets of Kelowna, in this Amazing Race meets Minute-to-Win-It style event. There will be various checkpoints and challenges sponsored by local businesses throughout Kelowna. It’s a chance to involve our community as well as local business in an exciting new and unique event offering “a great time to change lives”. boysandgirlsclubs.ca/images/downloads/Team%20Info%20Package%202012.pdf Checkpoints will be set up among local businesses through metropolitan Kelowna. At these checkpoints, teams will compete in fun and innovative challenges, which once successfully completed, will give them clues to determine the final location in a race to the finish line. The funds raised from Race for Kids will directly benefit children, youth and families in our community through the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs. Are you ready to RACE?! 	Boat for Hope Kelowna Yacht Club Saturday, June 16th, 2012 - 10-3:00PM On Saturday, June 16th Variety, Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs and KYC will offer a fun-filled day on the water for over 200 children with special needs and their families during Boat for Hope. The 6th Annual Boat for Hope event will offer children a chance to experience a day on the water with a real pirate adventure in search of treasure from different pirate ships (sailboats) out on the lake. The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs will transform the KYC parking lot into Treasure Island with a variety of games, activities, entertainment and a barbeque lunch. 	Interior Savings Moonlight Movies Throughout the Okanagan Wednesday, July 11th, 2012 - 7 - 11:30PM As the sun goes down in our communities, Interior Savings Credit Union and the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs will be lighting up parks in your area with a giant inflatable movie screen and fun activities for the family. Similar to the classic drive-in experience, just without the cars or the concrete, the community is invited to bring their lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy a movie under the stars. There is no charge to attend the event, but a donation of $3 per person is encouraged with all proceeds benefiting the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs. “We strive to support over 6000 children, youth and families in the Okanagan by providing programs and services that promote healthy physical, educational and social development,” says Craig Monley, CEO of Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs. “The Interior Savings Moonlight Movie Night is a unique event for our community that will help us raise funds to support these programs and services.” Movies are scheduled to show as follows: July 11 – Kelowna July 18 – Kelowna Aug 19 – Vernon Aug 20 – Lake Country Aug 21 – West Kelowna Aug 22 – Kelowna Aug 23 – Ok Falls Aug 26 – Oliver Aug 27 – Osoyoos Locations to be determined.
